Toronto Star Reviews Der Freischütz

It doesn’t stretch a pun to say that Opera Atelier’s new production of Der Freischütz(The Marksman) hits the mark. Like the magic bullets in the story, this production’s success alchemically triumphs over an assortment of strangely incompatible forces to assure a happy end.
It’s safe to say that no one else but director Marshall Pynkoski and his team could have come up with this pageant. This well-groomed love child of singspiel and opera was the first significant German Romantic work for the musical stage.
